New Rules for Applying E-Passport Online in BD

pplying for an e-passport has become more streamlined and convenient, especially with the ability to complete most of the process online. Gone are the days of attesting numerous documents; now, you can apply for an e-passport with just a few essential documents.

In this article, we will walk you through the required documents and the steps needed to successfully obtain your e-passport.

Required Documents for E-Passport Application

To ensure a smooth application process, make sure you have the following documents ready:

To apply for an e-passport, visit www.epassport.gov.bd. Provide your National Identity Card or Birth Registration Certificate information. Please fill out the application form according to your ID with all personal information and parent information.

You must also submit your passport application and necessary documents to the passport office along with the passport fee.

The applicant’s details should be filled out according to the National Identity Card (NID) or the Online Birth Registration Certificate (BRC). Ensure that you follow the correct instructions when applying for an e-passport online. An application error could lead to a lot of trouble later on.

You can apply for a passport online at www.epassport.gov.bdVisit by clicking on the Apply Online menu. Choose your regional office and police station. Verify your email address and provide your personal information. Please provide your address, your parent’s identity, and emergency contact information. Submit the application, select the passport type, and collect the printed copy.

The availability of e-passport services in your district must be determined before filling out an online application form for an e-passport.

Click on Directly to online application. You will then see a page like the one below. Select your district and police station name here.

After that, you need to verify your email address. Email address and password are required later, so please know them.

You can either provide another email address or forget your password and get a new one if you can’t remember it. Select I am not a robot below and enter your email address.

Your given email address will receive a verification link from the Passport website. Click on the link to complete email verification.

You will need to log into the passport website again after you have completed the email verification process. Choose Passport Official through Ordinary and Government Order or NOC as the Passport Type.

Please fill out all your personal information in English correctly.

Re-login to the passport website after email verification. Click on Save and Continue after entering your name and National Identity Card number.

Online passport applications are available for those under 18 years of age who do not have a National Identity Card.

Birth Registration Certificates (BRC) or National Identity Cards (NIDs) can be applied for if you are between 18 and 20 years old.

National Identity Cards are required for people over 20 years old. It is possible to download the online copies of National Identity Card and Voter ID Card from the internet if you just applied for National Identity Card and haven’t received your smart card yet.

During the ID Documents step, you must provide information about your previous passport or passport of any other country, as well as your birth registration certificate.

If you have a previous passport, please select Yes. Otherwise, please select No. I do not have a previous or handwritten passport.

Passport amendments or renewals require the previous passport information.

Please provide your present address as well as your permanent address. Please check the box below if your current and permanent addresses are the same.

Please provide the name, address, and mobile number of your parents, siblings, brothers, or any other family member who should be contacted if there is an emergency.

Choose your passport’s number of pages and validity.

Select Normal or Urgent Passport Delivery from this step. You can choose Express if your order is urgent or Ordinary if it is not urgent.

To submit the application, please recheck all the information provided above and click Submit.

Two PDF downloads are required after successful submission of the e-passport application. There are two forms to complete: 1) the application summary and 2) the online registration form. From the computer, print them well. You can print it from a computer service store if you don’t have a computer.

Documents such as these will be needed later. Please print the Application summary on one page and the Online Registration form on both pages.

Take a printout of the Application Summery page and your NID to the bank. Fees for passports should be paid at the bank. As per the Passport Application Summery, the passport fee should be paid through this challan.

A Challan can also be used to submit the e-passport application fee from BKash or any bank account.

The cost of an E-Passport will range from Tk 4025 to Tk 13,800. A fee of Tk 200-300 may also be charged by any computer service organization in your area if you cannot apply for an e-passport yourself online. Passport fees may vary based on the number of pages, validity, and method of delivery.

For cancellation of an e-passport application, you must write to the Assistant Director of the Regional District Passport Office. After an e-passport application is submitted, it cannot be canceled online or offline.

You can correct mistakes in passport information at the passport office and submit the passport application for enrollment without canceling the application if you make a mistake when providing passport information. Talk to the Assistant Director of the Regional District Passport Office about this.

You can obtain a new e-passport if your MRP passport has expired. E-passports are obtained directly from MRP passports without requiring renewal. When applying, provide ID Documents only with your previous MRP passport information.

Renewal of an MRP passport to an e-passport has the major advantage of containing updated information. A mistake in your previous MRP passport can also be corrected by applying for an e-passport based on your national identity card.

Please note that changing your permanent address while renewing your passport may result in a new police verification. As getting police verification will add 5/7 days and hassle, it should not be modified unless absolutely necessary.
